More alphabet soup, what does this one stand for? CEDEFOP is the EU body that deals with vocational training. The letters are taken from the French name for it which translates as European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training. What does it do? It helps lecturers, managers, trade unions, policy makers and others involved in vocational training throughout the EU. How does it do that? Its activities are divided into research, reports, exchanges and information and communication. |

Papers are published and seminars held at CEDEFOP headquarters and at other venues throughout the EU. Exchanges are initiated between those involved in vocational training in up to 31 countries, including the EU members and candidates. The interactive web site European Training Village (www.trainingvillage.gr) facilitates communication and acts as an online meeting place to exchange views on topics such as e-learning.
Who runs the organisation?
The management board is composed of members from Member State Governments, National Employers' Organisations, National Trade Unions, and the European Commission. The European trade union and employers federations UNICE and ETUC participate as observers.
